How to Take The Overwhelm Out Of Social Media!

Get More Time in Your Day!

Time WastedGetting more time in your day can be as simple as making a few minor changes.  We know there are only so many hours available, and adding more is just not possible.

However,  these are four practices that help me get more accomplished in the time I do have available.

1.  Avoid unnecessary interruptions – How many times have you been immersed with something for work only to get interrupted by a phone call?  Then when you finally get back to what you were doing you totally forget where you were.  Probably the best way to handle this is not to be interrupted.  Especially when you are working on a project that has a deadline.

Make sure you have limited, if not eliminated, the possibility of interruptions. Here are some suggestions:

*  Set your calls to go to voicemail.

*  Close your email or turn off email notifications.

*  Let family members know you are not to be interrupted, except in an emergency.  In fact, you might actually close the door to your workspace, if you have one.  Hang a “Do Not Disturb” sign up or set up some other system that will let everyone know you are not to be interrupted.

2.  Get rid of clutter – Need I say more?  No, seriously.

For instance, when I set up my office in the spare room off the master bedroom,   I took all items that were not related to my business out of the office.  I have a blank space on my desk to work on and I throw away all papers that are just scrap.  What a difference it has made in my business!

3.  Make a schedule -Making a schedule is the best thing I have done for my business.  This schedule is more than just a “to do” list. You actually plan your day by adding allotted time and time frames to your calendar.  Set reminders.  Honor them.

Stop what you are doing and actually complete the task at the appointed time.  If this is just not possible, reschedule it to a more convenient time.

4.  Limit your time on Social Media – Seriously have you ever spent endless time surfing your Facebook feed.  Stop.  Again it’s important that you even schedule your time on Social Media.

There are many other things that you can put into place to stop wasting time.  I believe if you do these 4 things it will help a lot.  Drop me a line and tell me how you prevent yourself from wasting time.
